Lyndon Whalen is one of the most enduring and respected figures in modern kendama. Known for spreading kendama through friendship, consistency, and elite-level play, Lyndon represents what long-term dedication to the craft looks like. As the longest-tenured player on Sol Kendamas, his influence spans competition, brand development, teaching, and international cultural exchange.
Lyndon joined the Sol Kendamas family in August 2015 and was officially announced to the Sol Pro Team in April 2017. He was one of the six original Sol Kendamas team members and today remains the only original member still actively competing and promoting kendama professionally. His longevity and commitment have made him a foundational figure in both Sol Kendamas’ identity and the broader kendama scene.
Throughout his career, Lyndon has built a deep kendama résumé by working closely with some of the industry’s most influential brands and players. His experience includes early apparel design for Sol Kendamas, helping grow Sol’s presence through running the instagram account, serving as a weekly instructor and counselor at kendama summer camps with Sweets Kendamas, and working as a warehouse manager for Kendama USA for several years. These roles reflect not only high-level skill, but trust, reliability, and leadership behind the scenes.
Lyndon’s positive mindset and unwavering commitment have allowed him to remain competitive across multiple eras of kendama. He is widely regarded as one of the few OG players who continues to perform at a world-class level, earning finalist placements at international events nearly a decade into his career.
As of 2025, Lyndon has released two unique Sol Kendamas pro models, both of which have completely sold out, further cementing his influence and connection with the kendama community.
Today, Lyndon lives in Nagai City, Yamagata, Japan, where he works as a member of the Area Revitalization Squad, dedicating himself full-time to a kendama-centered lifestyle. He teaches and promotes kendama daily at Kendama Hiroba Spike, with the goal of bridging communities across the world through kendama. His work in Japan reflects the same values that have defined his career from the start: connection, consistency, and genuine love for the craft.
