Legendary Rock Band Queen Shown Playing Kendama In 1975

 Queen In Japan In 1975

The legendary rock band Queen visited Japan for the first time in April of 1975 for the Sheer Heart Attack Tour. At the time the members were Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Brian May, and Roger Taylor. Japanese fans flocked to the airport on their arrival in the country, welcoming them with open arms. The American rock band was the latest sensation to hit the streets of Tokyo and beyond.

Freddie Mercury In A Japanese Garden

While they were in Japan, the band was set up for a film and photo shoot in a garden where they participated in Japanese cultural traditions. In the video below, you can see Freddie Mercury and Brian May messing around with a kendama, and by the looks of it, Freddie was a natural! Keep in mind, this is right around the time the Japanese Kendama Association was beginning to form, so who knows what kind of kendama Freddie Mercury was playing in this rare footage.
