Kendama is a perfect activity to take along the trail. It's lightweight, it doesn't require batteries, and well... it's fun! Also, kendama's meditative influence can be heightened when playing in a secluded outdoor area, and if you are lucky enough for it to also be picturesque and have some friends tag a log, you've hit the jackpot.
And that is exactly what we did when we were in Canada for Brew Battle 2021.
We have been supplying Cafe Kendama with our products so it is easier for Canadian players to have access to them. Adam McNeil, the guy behind Cafe Kendama, and the host of the kendama podcast the Brewview, hosted the 2021 Brew Battle in Calgary. Sol's own Kevin DeSoto took home the first place freestyle prize amongst a crowd of 80 players from 4 different provinces and 4 states!
The Sol team and a few friends marched out to Alberta's Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park to explore the terrain and jam! Of course we brought a camera along to capture not only the scenery, but some pretty heavy tricks as well. Check out the footage below and feel free to drop a comment!
